About Shernett Griffiths, MD
Dr. Griffiths is a board-certified rheumatologist and chief of rheumatology at Englewood Hospital. Born in Jamaica, she grew up in Connecticut. Prior to attending medical school, she conducted research at Yale University School of Medicine. She received her MD from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, where she was the first black student to be elected study body president and where she initiated curriculum changes still in place today. She was also assistant regional director of the Student National Medical Association, Midwest Region, and represented her medical school at a national scholars leadership conference in the Netherlands. She trained at University Hospitals of Cleveland and served as chief fellow of the rheumatology division at University Hospitals of Cleveland and at the Cleveland Veterans Administration.
