Omar Syed, MD

Dr. Omar Syed is a board certified neurosurgeon who is fellowship trained in minimally invasive spine surgery. His clinical interests include adult brain and spine conditions, with a focus on complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. This includesdegenerative spine conditions, such as spinal stenosis or disc herniations, as well as spinal tumors, spinal trauma, and revision spine surgery. He also has interests in motion preserving (non-fusion) approaches, such as arthroplasty and inter-laminar stabilization, such as Coflex. He has experience with state-of-the-art technology such as advanced intraoperative monitoring technology, frameless image guidance systems, spinal navigation and stereotactic radiosurgery/Gamma Knife.

Dr. Syed received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine and he completed his neurosurgical residency training at The Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Complex Spine Surgery at the University of Tennessee/Semmes-Murphey Clinic in Memphis.

Dr. Syed is an active member of numerous professional organizations including the American Association of Neurological Surgery, the Congress of Neurological Surgery, and the North American Spine Society.Dr. Syed has authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters.
