Diabetes is a disease that affects almost 30 million people in the United States — both young and old.

Diabetes impairs the body’s ability to produce or use insulin, a vital hormone for regulating blood glucose levels. This disruption results in elevated blood sugar, which can lead to serious health issues if left untreated.

Conditions We Treat

  • Prediabetes
  • Type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes)
  • Type 2 diabetes (adult-onset diabetes)
  • Gestational diabetes
  • Secondary diabetes
  • Metabolic syndrome

Although diabetes can be quite serious, effective management can prevent long-term complications or significantly reduce their impact.

Retinal Eye Scan

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is an eye condition that can cause vision loss and blindness in people diabetes patients. If you have diabetes, it’s important to get a comprehensive eye exam at least once a year. Early screening and detection is key to prevent progression in early stages of DR.

At our Diabetes Centers, we offer LumineticsCore™, a state-of-the-art retinal eye scan, to detect diabetic retinopathy (including macular edema) at the point of care. The exam, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) is simple and quick, providing immediate results. If anything is detected, our experts will refer you to an ophthalmologist.
