Dr. Shin first joined Englewood Health in 2008.  As an academic hospitalist, he works closely with medical residents and students to help manage patients through a continuum of multidisciplinary hospital care.  Dr. Shin became the Section Chief of Hospital Medicine in 2015 and the Chief of the Department of Medicine in 2022.  He has strong interests in the application of information technology, and as a member of the Clinical Informatics Committee, he works to improve patient care and physician workflow utilizing the Epic EMR.  Dr. Shin also serves on numerous hospital committees including those focused on patient safety and care quality, medical education, and other process improvements.  He has also been involved in outreach efforts to the local Korean-American community, including volunteering at the Korean Community Center’s medical clinic for the uninsured and giving health information lectures. 

Dr. Shin received his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City and stayed on to complete his Internal Medicine residency training at New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center.  He was formerly an academic hospitalist at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.  He is currently a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and the ABIM Hospital Medicine Exam Approval Committee.

Dr. Tanganyika Barnes is currently the Program Director and served as the Associate Program Director for 7 years before taking on this position in 2020. In addition to her administrative role as program faculty, she is also an Academic Hospitalist, which allows her to directly supervise and teach residents in the inpatient setting. Through her direct observation of resident workflows and her role as chair of the residency program’s Program Evaluation Committee, she is able to see and hear about the needs of the training program and actively work to enhance the educational experiences for the program.

During her tenure as faculty, Dr. Barnes has proudly developed or enhanced several curricula, including Team O, Bioskills, and POCUS. She has also mentored residents in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety projects.  In addition to her passion for curriculum development, Dr. Barnes also has a strong interest in resident mentorship and professional development and finds great joy in watching them develop into independent clinicians and leaders in the healthcare landscape. To aid in their professional growth and development, she developed the professional development workshop series, which has aided residents in discovering career paths and ensuring they have the tools for successful fellowship and job placement.

Dr. Barnes received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the former New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM), now New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM). She completed her Internal Medicine residency training at the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-NJMS (UMDNJ-NJMS), now Rutgers-NJMS, and completed a Chief Resident year at Morristown Medical Center. Dr. Barnes is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine.

In her free time, Dr. Barnes enjoys singing and listening to music, developing her skills as a budding make-up artist, and spending quality time with her friends and family. 

Dr. Alyssa Foster serves as the Assistant Site Director for Ambulatory Care. In addition to ensuring our ambulatory site runs smoothly, her faculty responsibilities also include overseeing our Wellness and BioSkills/Transitions of Care curricula. Dr. Foster is an ambulatory preceptor, block preceptor for Academic Half Day and serves as a faculty advisor to the residents. She is also a primary care physician for the Englewood Health Physician Network. Her interests include wellness, transitions of care, and mentoring residents in professional development. 

Dr. Foster received her MD degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Englewood Health. In her spare time, Dr. Foster enjoys running, baking, and watching reality TV.

Dr. Dipal R. Patel is an Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency program at Englewood Hospital and Clerkship Director for Internal Medicine. She oversees the Community Medicine curriculum, an equitable patient-centered care curriculum focused on incorporating social determinants of health into resident practice. Dr. Patel is an ambulatory preceptor and serves as block preceptor for Academic Half Day. She also serves as a co-lead for the Quality Improvement Curriculum. Her interests include outpatient quality improvement with a focus on social determinants of health, improving transitions of care to the outpatient setting, and resident communication skills.

Dr. Patel received her MD degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Medical Center and her fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension at UMDNJ – University Hospital. She served as Associate Program Director of Ambulatory Education at Mount Sinai Morningside – Mount Sinai West Hospital Internal Medicine Residency program prior to joining Englewood Health. Dr. Patel is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Natasha Rastogi is an Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Englewood Hospital with a focus in Ambulatory Medicine. She oversees our Ambulatory Medicine curriculum in addition to managing the longitudinal ambulatory clinic experience for the housestaff at the North Hudson Community Action Corporation Clinic in Englewood. She is an ambulatory preceptor and also serves as one of the faculty leads for the resident Academic Half Day. Her interests include engaging residents in panel management, improving quality of care for our clinic patients and mentoring residents in professional development. She is a faculty advisor and co-chair for the Clinical Competency Committee.

Dr. Rastogi received her MD degree from the New York University School of Medicine where she stayed on to complete her Internal Medicine residency and a chief residency in Primary Care. She served as the Resident Site Director of New York Presbyterian-Columbia’s Ambulatory Care Network prior to joining Englewood Health. In her spare time, she is generally staying active with her kids, but loves to make time to catch up with friends, a good book or enjoy the outdoors.

Dr. Stephanie Rosales joined Englewood Health in the summer of 2023. She is an Associate Program Director (APD) with a focus on Hospital Medicine. Her mission is to maintain a well-rounded but innovative inpatient curriculum for the residency program. Through this mission she strives to ensure that our residents are prepared for independent practice and competitive applicants for fellowship. As an academic hospitalist she works closely with residents during their inpatient rotations and is able to use this frontline experience to develop useful tools and lectures for our learners. Her areas of interests are quality improvement and patient-centered communication. Over the last year she has worked to develop our Morbidity and Mortality curriculum and collaborated with our Center for Clinical Practice to develop a rapid response simulation. She serves as a mentor to residents and co-chairs on the Clinical Competency Committee with our other APD’s.

Dr. Rosales received her MD degree from Louisiana State University Healthcare Sciences Center in New Orleans. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency training at New York Presbyterian – Columbia University Medical Center, where she also completed her first two years as an academic hospitalist. She then went on to work at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City for several years, where she was once again an academic hospitalist but also served as Director of Quality Improvement for Hospital Medicine.

When outside the hospital she enjoys cooking foods that pay homage to her New Orleans roots and traveling with her husband, son and energetic labradoodle, Roux.

Dr. Gianatiempo has been Medical Director of the ICU since 2001 and Director of Critical Care Medicine at Englewood Hospital since 2009. He is the chair of the Critical Care Committee and co-chair of the Cardiac Arrest Committee. He also is a member of the Ethics, Nutrition and Physician Performance Evaluation Committees. Dr. Gianatiempo has practiced Critical Care Medicine for twenty-five years with focus on clinical care and post graduate education in the care of critically ill patients. He is also involved in several multicenter studies in the treatment of patients with septic shock as well as adult respiratory distress syndrome. Furthermore, he has served as treasurer for the New Jersey Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine where he has served on several advisory committees for the Society of Critical Care. In his spare time Dr. Gianatiempo enjoys sports, especially soccer, biking, traveling and reading.
